Why should I make this smoothie?

The extensive research on the health benefits of eating leafy greens, such as kale or spinach, shows that these greens are full of nutrients that help our cells rejuvenate, giving us more energy. Adding a healthy fat to greens supports the absorption of many of the phytochemicals in greens. For example, when avocado is added to greens it can improve carotenoid absorption by up to 6 times! Hemp and chia seeds are high in Omega 3 fatty acids and fiber (push out the bad, so you can feel good!) Hemp is also a complete protein, since it contains all the essential amino acids.  All of this means more energy for us!

Recipe

  • 1 cup (unsweetened) almond or coconut milk
  • 1-2 heaping cups kale or spinach
  • ½ small avocado
  • ½ cup mango chunks (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons Hemp and/or Chia Seeds
  • Handful of Ice and Fresh Mint (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend up until smooth.

All ingredients are readily available from Costco, or other grocery stores.
